Throughout the years the SFMT has teamed up with different organisations and companies for arranging specific events like conferences and seminars or for awarding work by undergraduate students and PhD students.

The list is long but steady and recurring partners to SFMT include Chalmers University of Technology, Luleå University of Technology, Royal Institute of Technology, Uppsala University, Linköping University, and Karlstad University and companies and organisations like SSAB, Sandvik, Ovako, and Jernkontoret.

SFMT is also the Swedish representative in the FEMS, the Federation of European Materials Societies.
